A Step towards promoting urban agriculture by HDFC Bank

The inauguration of the programme "A small step for a GREAT START" organized by HDFC Bank Sri Lanka successfully took place at the Hyde Park Corner branch recently.

As a responsible financial institution in the country, purpose of such an initiative was to promote urban agriculture and contribute to the community via knowledge sharing and plant / seed distribution that may assist one another during these troubled times. The event was also broadcasted live via the official Facebook page and YouTube channel of HDFC Bank Sri Lanka to allow a wider audience to join with the programme.

This great occasion was graced by the Chairman of HDFC Bank Mrs. Wasanthi Manchanayake, Chief Operating Officer Mr. A. J. Athukorala, Deputy General Manager Mrs. Sudishna Perera, Regional Manager Mr. Nishantha Ranasinghe, Hyde Park Corner Branch Manager Mr. Amal Kiriella along with the distinguished invitees from the Department of Agriculture, District Agriculture Consultant for Western Province Mr. Samitha Madushanka, Deputy Provincial Agricultural Director Mrs. Samanmalee Fernando and Assistant Provincial Agricultural Director Mrs. Subhashini Premaratne.

The informative session by Mr. Samitha Madushanka on Low / No space agricultural techniques to support urban agriculture was certainly an eye opener for all participants.

Commenting at the event, the Chairperson Mrs.Manchanayake said "The Bank for your Home" look forward to continue the project with more sessions in future to assist our valued customers and all citizens of Sri Lanka.
