NDB hosts auction AI-Generated visuals as part of Corporate Sustainability Initiative

08 Feb 2023

NDB bank will host an online auction of High scaled picture framed images featured in the NDB AI-generated calendar 2023, in aid of supporting two rural schools as part of its Corporate Sustainability Initiative. The proceedings of this auction will be utilised to develop two selected underprivileged schools, CP/Wil/Veheragalayaya Kanishta Vidyalaya in Matale and J/St Joseph's Vidyalayam, Jaffna.

Every year NDB bank produces a calendar comprising new concepts and unique ideas for the forthcoming year. Therefore, this year NDB bank took a giant leap forward to adhere to its corporate tagline- The future is banking on us and set to work on its most innovative calendar idea yet, which is to use Artificial intelligence to develop these visuals.

In order to bring the concept to life, NDB Bank solicited the help of its youngest customers, the children who were asked to envision what the future would look like 100 years from now and explain their imaginations. Many children shared their contributions to what the future would entail a century later, via short videos. Upon reviewing the submissions, the best 12 were selected to be featured in the calendar. Thus, the visual development of these imaginations took place via the AI platform for the calendar.

The proceeds of this auction will further improve the lives of the children during trying times and create a better learning-oriented environment for the students. The online auction will be launched on a specific website and will be open for bids by the general public from 25th January to 10th February 2023. More details will be available on the NDB Bank website and the official social media channels of NDB Bank.

NDB bank has worked extensively in charitable projects in Matale with CP/Wil/Veheragalayaya Kanishta Vidyalaya in particular to improve its facilities and livelihood in general. Volunteers from the Bank's Senior Management contributed the necessary computer tables in addition to upgrading the school's computer lab and supplying used PCs. In order to cover the cost of the entire school's stationary needs, the Bank also funded students' books and other stationery to facilitate their learning activities.

As part of its CSR endeavours in the Matale region, the bank had also provided a new water purification plant as the water in the area is unfit for drinking, and as a result, there are cases of renal disease.

The next phase of the Bank’s CSR endeavour is to facilitate children from low-income households who attend the selected schools to efficiently participate in education.
