Banking Made Easy: Send Remittances and Manage Finances While Abroad with NDB

30 May 2023
Considering the ongoing economic situation in Sri Lanka, there has been an increase in migration due to numerous reasons including employment, education, etc. Thereby, as a bank with close links to the community, NDB is committed to supporting the national endeavor of encouraging remittances. In a bid to further this commitment, NDB has introduced an array of banking and financial solutions including the NDB Remittance service, to Sri Lankans who are living aboard and those who are planning on migrating abroad.

The launch of the NDB NEOS app, a state-of-the-art digital banking platform for online banking, is the pinnacle of the NDB Digital Offering. NDB NEOS ensures absolute connectivity to all of NDB’s banking services, allowing customers to transact through the NEOS app from wherever they are, whenever they require. NDB also offers a fund management system that allows for transactions such as bill payments, education fees, health and insurance payments, etc. to be conducted outside of the country via the NDB NEOS app. The introduction of NEOS Pay, a QR payment method, has also enabled customers to carry out a host of transactions via the same platform, where registration is provided free of charge.

NDB also provides an AI-enabled VKYC (Video Know Your Customer) based online account opening system within the NDB NEOS app. The KYC or VKYC check is the mandatory process of identifying and verifying the client's identity when opening an account and periodically over time. Moreover, NDB was the first bank to offer AI-based VKYC verification for creating accounts, which allows customers to open accounts from wherever they are located, making it easier for Sri Lankans living abroad.

Additionally, NDB endeavours to encourage the channeling of foreign remittances by bringing the utmost convenience to customers, as they can receive money via Western Union with just one phone call or by sending a message through the NDB NEOS app. The Bank has also made allowances for Sri Lankan expats sending money from any country, to loved ones back home by charging minimum remittance fees.

Furthermore, NDB also ensures that customers have access to a customer service representative 24 hours a day, enabling those living outside of the country to use the Bank’s services throughout the day. Subsequently, NDB NEOS gives customers the facility to track their transactions and keep a record of their past transactions, which has enabled transactions to be carried out safely and without risk.

NDB Bank continues to offer customers residing both within Sri Lanka and abroad, top-of-the-line banking and financial services in order to ensure that their day-to-day personal banking transactions remain hassle free and convenient, irrespective of time and location.
