Vanithabhimana Wins Award at ‘Top50’ Professional and Career Women Awards by WIM

NDB Bank together Sirasa News1st was recently felicitated with the “Positive Media Campaign for the Empowerment of Women” award at the “Top 50 Professional & Career Women Awards – Eleventh Edition” Sri Lanka & Maldives – under the Organizational Category.

Celebrating extraordinary women who achieve greatness on a national level across all industries, Sri Lanka Vanithabhimana was introduced in a joint effort by NDB and Sirasa News1st with the intention of empowering the women of Sri Lanka. The program, now in its 2nd year is conducted across all nine provinces where female achievers from across the country contest in 10 categories – Entrepreneurship (Small Scale), Entrepreneurship (Micro Scale), Entrepreneurship (upcoming), Young leader, Environmental Management, Sports, Volunteer Services, Invention & Innovation and Literature and Education Services. NDB has always been at the forefront of assisting entrepreneurs while also helping women in particular to achieve great heights, through its “Banking on women initiative” driven through its Araliya women’s savings account, and this award is another testament to this fact.

The 11th edition of the ‘Top50’ Professional and Career Women Awards, organized by Women in Management (WIM) and International Finance Corporation under the IFC-DFAT Women in Work programme, highlight and honor women in the national and regional economy and celebrate their achievements, experience and creativity in leading the institutions, professions and businesses in an efficient and effective manner. They have seized opportunities and overcome challenges. Furthermore, the awards program also featured an Organizational Category, under which corporates that excelled in empowering women in various aspects were recognized.

The Award Ceremony was held at Shangri-La Colombo, and was graced by Hon. Chamal Rajapaksa Minister of Irrigation & State Minister of National Security & Disaster Management & State Minister of Home Affairs of Sri Lanka, Members of Parliament, Diplomats, and Professionals in Businesses and Government Services. Launched in 2011 by WIM, ‘The Professional & Career Women Awards’ celebrates the achievements of successful women who inspire those around them.
