Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensuring that the bank complies with all relevant tax laws and regulations
- Preparing and filing accurate tax returns on a timely basis along with timely tax payments
- Responding to any inquiries or audits from tax authorities on a timely basis.
- Efficient handling of tax assessments and appeal related matters on a prudent basis
- Liaising with Inland Revenue Department, external and internal auditors, tax consultants, regulators and other stakeholders
- Promptly updating management regarding changes in tax laws and regulations and their implications
- Analyzing financial records and transactions to identify tax implications and opportunities for tax savings.
- Advising management on proactive tax planning strategies
- Guiding the business units and branch network in relation to tax related matters
- Maintaining up to date records and documentation on tax related matters
Academic/Professional Qualifications
- Must be an Associate Member of CA Sri Lanka/CIMA/ACCA
- Full or part qualification in a taxation course conducted by The Institute of Taxation / CA Sri Lanka will be added advantage
Work Experience
- Minimum 2 years post qualifying experience
- Exposure to taxation related matters in banking and financial services sector along with experience in a reputed audit firm would be an added advantage
