Database Administrator

Database Administrator 

Job Role
Administering and controlling the organization's database management systems

Responsibilities
  • Management of large scale Oracle database environments
  • Management of Mongo/ MySQL/MSSQL Etc.
  • RMAN and data pump utility operations
  • Monitoring - Eg: Enterprise Manager
  • Management of data replication
  • Provide day-to-day management of database environments which include monitoring, troubleshooting and upgrading existing databases
  • Prepare documentation and follow change control processes
  • Provide database design, direction and support for internal teams
  • Performing research and support for database/license optimization and new technology adaption
  • Configuring and setting up disaster recovery and test environments
  • Perform upgrades and patching of database environments to align with the Bank's security practices
  • Work in accordance with the IT Security Policy of the Bank

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or equivalent IT experience
  • Oracle certifications such as - OCA/OCP will be an added advantage

Work Experience
  • Experience with medium to large databases in an enterprise environment with Oracle
  • Experience in SQL Server MSSQL PostgreSQL
  • 2-3 years hands on experience with RDBMS administration

Skills and Capabilities
  • Proficiency in database administration
  • Proficiency in designing and developing SQL and stored procedures
  • Schema normalization, index tuning and bulk data import/export
  • Ability to automate repetitive tasks via automation scripting using industry standard tools
  • Good understanding of operating systems such as Oracle Linux, Oracle Solaris, Red Hat Linux & Windows Server platforms
  • Experience in RAC deployments and version upgrades
